Comic Connections celebrates almost 200 years of Middlesbrough’s history, the birth of train travel and the tenacity of Teesside over two centuries.
The artwork is narrated by Joseph Pease (1799 – 1872) – ‘The father of Middlesbrough’ and an early supporter of the Stockton and Darlington Railway Company, one of the first public railway systems in the world.
To create the work, Keino have combined comic characters, painted textures, rhymes, hand drawn typography and archival and contemporary photography which have been digitally rendered and printed onto vinyl that will stretch 15 metres along the station’s underpass.
