About Navigator North

Navigator North are a Tees Valley based, artist led organisation who initiate, facilitate and promote opportunities to raise the profile of artists and support creative practice in the North East – inspiring visual artists and creative communities to thrive. We do this through providing studio/creative spaces in the area, delivering cultural programmes, public art commissioning and place-making initiatives.

Established in 2010 as a Community Interest Company, we are currently directed by arts professional and curator, James Lowther and arts professional and artist Vicky Holbrough.

Working with our spaces partner East Street Arts since 2011, we have provided hundreds of artists with studio space across 20 different sites in Tees Valley and County Durham in alternative meanwhile spaces, including office, retail and commercial properties.

Funded programmes offer professional development opportunities and support for artists to make and show work through artist bursaries, public commissions, exhibitions, events and residencies. Curated to specific themes, these programmes aim to provide better understanding, access and engagement with the arts for the benefit of the public.

Working in partnership with local authorities, property owners, funders and community stakeholders, we devise and deliver public art commissioning and place-making initiatives.

Navigator North is a registered Community Interest Company. No. 07378427
