Navigator North is a Tees Valley-based, artist-led organisation supporting artists, communities and the creative use of space. Through studios, public art, community programmes and public realm interventions, Navigator North works across studios, streets and shared places to strengthen creative infrastructure and shape vibrant, inclusive environments.
Creative spaces & artist studios – Working with our spaces partner East Street Arts since 2011, we have provided hundreds of artists with studio space across 20 different sites in Tees Valley and County Durham in alternative meanwhile spaces, including office, retail and commercial properties.
Professional development & artist support – As an artist led organisation we pride ourselves on creating opportunities to support creative practice and professionalism within the creative sector.
Public exhibitions, events & activities – Curated to specific themes, our funded programmes aim to provide better understanding, access and engagement with the arts for the benefit of the public whilst enabling artists to share their work through public commissions, exhibitions, events and residencies.
Public art commissioning – Working in partnership with local authorities, property owners, funders and community stakeholders, we devise and deliver public art commissioning and place-making initiatives, through –
- Co-creation with communities and meaningful community engagement programmes
- Collaboration with businesses and stakeholders
