Beginning in March 2025, as a way to contribute and play a part in the making of Stuart Langley’s public art commission, members of the public were asked to donate their old mobile phones with donation points including TransPennine Railway Stations; Middlesbrough, Thornaby, Northallerton, Thirsk, Malton, Scarborough and local community centres – Newport Community Hub and Breckon Hill Community Centre.

A programme of community engagement activities, talks and visits have taken place with various groups, communities and artists to inform the artwork development. These have been led by artists Nic Golightly and Sarah Falconer.
